Shoulder injury - pinched nerve? pulled muscle??

I woke up and decided to reach for my phone. I must have overstretched or reached for it at a weird angle because all of a sudden I had a huge pain in my shoulder. I thought I had just pulled a muscle or something because that's what it felt like. But when I got downstairs all of a sudden I couldn't see anything - everything got dark and blurry with white dots, I felt like I was going to puke and pass out, I was weak feeling, and I had this weird sound in my ears that sounded like something deflating. My father says I probably pinched a nerve or pulled a muscle. Should I go to the doctor and have it checked out? Or just rest it and let it heal on its own?
Answer:
Real bad pain can make you even faint, so that's why it's possible to see spots and get sick feeling, and when you are going to faint you always hear a funny muffled sound in your ears.
It could be something like a rotorcuff, that is very painful.
Father-in-law has this and it causes severe pain and has gotten to the point he has very limited motion unless he rests it.
It wouldn't hurt to go see the doc...Pain can cause the symptoms you described...I had a shoulder injury, a minor accident and I'm now permanently damaged, so it wouldn't hurt to have it looked at...

Shoulder Hurts?

I am 12 years old and I started having shoulder pain; about a couple weeks ago, and I'm not sure if it's a tear, sprain or nothing serious. It cracks sometimes, and then comes really bad pain, but I am able to withstand it. Should I see a doctor? I play softball, and I walk like 6 miles with a heavy backpack and a binder in my hand, could those reasons be why?
Answer:
carrying that extra weight definitely is aggravating you shoulder problems. With pain that bad you really need to see your medical doctor. You want to stay active and if you continue using your shoulder when it's injured It could cause you problems for the rest of your life.
i have a torn rotator cuff. my symptoms are pain, especially when i try to lift my arm over my head, weakness, swelling and tingling. my shoulder also feels like it's catching or popping (clicking). are these your symptoms? if so, get to a doctor quickly! even if it is just a sprain, it's better to catch it early before it turns into something else.
Sounds like tendonitis of supraspinatus (one of the rotator cuff muscles). Stop carrying heavy things, at least with that arm, give baseball a rest and apply some ice to the area. Use the back pack like it was intended to be used - on both shoulders, and on YOUR BACK! The cracking is probably a result of scar tissue in the muscle/tendon. Your doctor will ikely suggest rest, ice and prescribe anti-inflammatory.
Yes,definitely, have your Parent take you to see a Doctor, the possibilities are many, in fact too many to get an answer here. It is very important for you to take care of your shoulder, you will be needing it for the rest of your life. There is much that can be done, it depends a lot what the Doctor finds is wrong with it. You can take something for pain like Motrin, Tylenol, Aleve or similar products that may be available at home. Ask your Mom, and just one tablet may be effective. Best wishes and get well soon...
number 1 dont tell ppl ur 12 thats not good i could be a bad person... im not but you justy might be growing tell ur mom or ur dad they might tell ur doc and gat u some help

Should your blood pressure read the same doing consecuative readings?

In other words, if you take a reading on the Left side, record it, should it read the same on the right side immediately following the recording of the left side? and for that matter...does you Blood Pressure read the same on any part of your body within a close time frame?
Answer:
Your blood pressure should be similiar all over your body at any given time, within reason (i.e. if in your right arm it is 120/80, and in your left leg it is 160/100, this would not be within reason).Blood pressure can very a good bit from day to day, but should be the same within 10-20 points systolically (the top number) of each other whenever you take it on different parts of your body.If yours is varying radically, you should probably see a doctor. If you have high blood pressure, you should visit a doctor anyways to be monitored.RN

Should you give a deposit, and should the surgeon inform you of all you should know before paying.?

In many large cities plastic surgeons demand a non returnable deposit when the surgery is scheduled and demand full payment in advance of the surgery. The deposit is 10% of the surgical fee or about $500.00 for a simple face lift. If the surgeon does not inform you of all you should know before payment is made, and then after payment is made, inform you of some unacceptable risks,
If you then cancel the surgery, should you demand that all your payments be returned to you.
Answer:
A doctor should tell the patient all important information about the illness and about the surgery. Reveling dangerous aspects of surgery after receiving a non refundable deposit is tantamount to bait and switch.
Of course.
In Miami and New York, I have heard, there is a lot of problems encountered by people having plastic surgery.
Many patients think that if a plastic surgeon is really a plastic surgeon, board certified and member of the society of plastic surgeons, the patients think that that will protect them from unethical business practices. Far from it, as the question above implies.
The most important thing for me is:
when did the surgeon complete his plastic surgical training ?
If the surgeons training is over 15 years old, bad news. Why? because, even if, the surgeon may know about the latest surgical techniques in plastic surgery, he has not been trained in them and he certainly has not been practicing them. So, sister, get yourself a recently university trained surgeon, your shape is too important to not be careful.
I have heard of some horror stories.
Your question was concerning the financial end of plastic surgery. It stands to reason you would only choose a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, and examine his hospital affiliation, placement on the staff of plastic surgeons at that hospital, and his malpractice insurance coverage. Then check with the local medical association to see if there are any malpractice claims against him/her.
It is really up to YOU to do your homework and find out the correct name of the procedure being done and all the complications that can arise from that procedure, and lastly the recovery time.
Then research it, research it to death. Anything that the surgeon FORGOT to mention, and there should be none if you are going to a good one, should be discussed with the surgeon directly. Don't get a secondary answer through a Nurse or other staff member. If needed to clarify your concerns, the staff should offer you another visit with the doctor free of charge to allay all your questions and concerns.
Now financially. If surgery has to be cancelled because the patient is not well, or the patient changes their mind within a reasonable period of time prior to surgery (usually 10 days,so another surgery can be booked in it's place), you should be entitled to ALL your deposit money back. Because Insurance does not cover 99% of plastic surgery procedures, as I am sure you are aware, the physician wants the full payment for the procedure before that procedure is done, and this is standard procedure. Also one other thing, make sure the plastic surgeon you choose to do the procedure, is the one who actually does the procedure. You can always tell them that there could be a review of surgical records.
I would check out the type of anesthesia that is being used also. I don't mean general, BUT what type of medication will be used. This is something you learn when they have you in for pre-op testing.
Check it all out and you will be a well informed and relaxed patient.

Should you do slower cardio to lose weight?

I've heard that when you run slower you burn more fat. So does this mean that when you are trying to lose weight you should do slower cardio rather than fast? If you do fast cardio will you not lose weight? How fast should you go? If someone could explain this to me it would be very helpful. Thanks!
Answer:
running slower does not burn more fat..the faster and the more intense your excises is, the more calories and fat you will burn...exercise hard..make sure you get tired, sore and sweat a lot..it helps better. =]

Should stitches hurt?

I had a couple of moles removed on my back today and had stitches. They sting now quite a lot and I was wondering if this is normal? I am a bit worried about splitting them by picking things up and such.
Answer:
If you only had them removed today, you mave have had a local anaesthetic, in which case it has worn off, and you are feeling what has been done - which is surgery; an invasive procedure - you were cut in order to remove the moles.
Think about it; if you got those cuts accidentally, they would also hurt or sting for a few days.
you will have a little discomfort for a couple of days allright, but it should not be a huge problem. You could try taking something like Neurofen tonight to help reduce any inflammation or swelling; and also take Arnica, the homeopathic remedy for internal bruising for the next few days - I have used it for years, and found it to be really effective in reducing bruising.
And be kind to yourself for a few days - the body has had a bit of a shock - no matter how minor surgery is, you need time to get better. the stitches are fine, they won't burst; they may just feel a bit tight in a day or so.
yeh they shud
They would of adviced you not to pick up heavy things ect if there was any concern. It will sting and be sore for a few days yet.
Hope it gets better soon. x
yes its quite normal, its the tightening of the skin? just be care-full of what you lift because you could bust them? have you got a plaster over them? if you have when its time to have them removed ,that is if there not dissolving stitches, remove the plaster prior to going to have them removed, because some doctors think its like a hair waxing system and just rip it off? i know Ive had it done, and they also administered the stitches without any anaesthetic..yowwwwccchhh,yes it hurt?
They might sting and itch while the incision heals. I would hold off on any activity that might tear the stitches.
It will be a bit sore but i think that is just normal they will get better soon and they should not split or anything so dont worry. hope you feel better soon x
Very sensible. To be honest they do often sting. What usually hurts the most is the stuff they use to spray the wound. It will be a very small cut. Just go a bit easier for a couple of days, I'm sure the doc would have told you if they were in an awkward place.
yep they hurt
if the doctor who put the stiches in is a good one then they shouldnt split. it is normal for stitches to hurt for a little while because they are holding the broken tissue together whilst it is healing. it just takes time.
its sore on your back.
i know how you feel, had a mole removed from my neck in feb! it stings for the first day or so but afterwards it just becomes a minor irritation while it heals!! the stitches should be fine if your doc has done a good job.
Nuthin like a little bit of pain to let you know you're still alive but that's o.k. because it only hurts 'til the pain goes away!
try putting vaseline on the skin so it doesnt pull the stitches when you move (this also works for tattoos)

Should someone pull a nail out of his head?

do you think if someone has a nail embeeded into his head should he pull it out himself or get medical attention
Answer:
You should never pull out an impaled or lodged object as it may lead to increased bleeding or hemmorage. The treatment of choice is to leave the object in and go to an emergency room as soon as possible, I would recommend calling an abulance.
get medical attention
umm. get medical attention!
Don't pull it out! It may be stopping blood flow. Get to an ER NOW!
No go to the emergency room let a doctor do it!!
He should DEFINATELY get attention. Not sure how the nail got there, but no matter the way the only way it should come out is by a pro who knows what they are doing! Otherwise who knows what could happen!
do not pull it out yourself. it can hook onto parts of the brain with severe repercussions. let the medical people do it.
Why??
medical attention please.!! if the nail has punctured a vein/artery, then he could bleed to death if the nail is extraced by a non-professional
there was a guy with a 6 inch spike in his brain, and they said that if he woul have pulled it out himself, he would have died, because the brain reacts and swells unpredictably, and they have to control it somehow in the hospital.I hope you don't have a nail in your head.
You should get medical attention because if you were to pull the nail out it could cause massive bleeding that the nail was holding back.
No, get medical attention for the nail.
Medical attention would be required for that type of injury.
I think maybe it should have went a little further in their head ...
I had a nail in my eyeball once. Actually it was wedged in between the eyeball and the socket. I pulled it out (first instinct) and it was fine. The eye doctor just had to clean out some debris and my eyeball was scratched a little, but not punctured.SO in my experience, it's a good thing to pull it out and then seek medical attention. But that's your eye, I think in other places you could bleed to death if you remove the nail.
dont even think about it
