Should I see an orthopedic doctor for pain and stiffness in my neck and shoulders?

I also have bone spurs on both sides of my neck. I get migraine headaches over my right eye or I get bad tension type headaches , with these headaches the bone spurs get tight and hard.
Answer:
I would see your family doctor first and they can referrer you onto other doctors.
I'd try massage first.
You need to maintain a proper posture, like keeping head straight. Don't bend head/neck forward. Don't use thick pillow. If doing lot of table work, take care to maintain good posture. You may need to get xrays/ CT scan to rule out cervical spondylosis.
Your family Chiropractor might be a better first option. The orthopedist will only give you drugs (with dangerous side effects) which never treat the CAUSE of these kinds of conditions. Your family Chiropractor will work with you to identify and correct any underlying structural causes of your pain and suffering. Importantly, your Chiropractor will refer you to an orthopedist if that is what you really need. Sadly, the orthopedist will not refer you to a Chiropractor if that is what you need.Chiropractic FIRST, then drugs, then surgery.Best wishes and good luck.
You could, but a physiotherapist is also likely to be useful to you. The physio can provide some postural tips and exercises that can alleviate some or all of the painful responses you are experiencing. If there are particular indications that surgical intervention would be more useful, the physio will be able to identify these, and will also hel[p you prepare to get the best outcome from the surgery.
I would go see a physical therapist first. They are able to give massage and several other equipment-assisted forms of therapy that are designed to help with sore or injured muscles. An orthopedic doctor is concerned with tendons, bones, and joints, rather than the muscles themselves.
Even if this is completely stress related, a PT can give you therapy that helps control the pain and can teach basic stretches and exercises that will keep the symptoms from coming back.A PT will be able to tell if you need to see an orthopedic doctor, and he or she will likely be able to identify the best ones for your specific problems.Best of luck!
Acupuncture is the best treatment.
If spurs doesn't disappear with acupuncture go for surgery, it is actually a mechanical and hence surgical problem.Source(s):
