Should i use this ice pack?

so i work at an office in a hotel, and my foot is swollen (long story, but i cant go home) so room service brought down 2 ice packs...one is an air tight sealed pack full of ice, the other is a "glacier ice gel refrigerant". she said "use that one, if you want, it's better..." bu the gel one is for packing to keep your food cold! and it says on the pack "DO NOT APPLY TO BODY" i found out its a pack for food online...but why would she give this to me if it says i shouldnt? should i try it, or just keep it for my lunches, and stick with the other ice pack? weird lady .
Answer:
The caution note is probably only is the pack is opened. I can't see something being safe for your food and not being safe for skin contact. But if you are unsure then go with your gut feeling and use the real pack of ice. Both of them should work the same.
(Psst! She doesn't like you. But, hey! Better ice pack than ice pick. N' est ce pas?
Do not use it, especially if it says not to. It could contain harmful chemicals that can be absorbed through your pores into your blood stream.
The weird lady thinks you are smart enough to apply to body with a towel between you and it. But not so, hu? Good thing you have ByeDr.com to fall back on! No one weird here!
No. It may contain something that could be absorbed and harmful. Use the regular ice.
If it's non toxic and you'd put it next to your food then I think it should be fine. Injured at work and they won't let you leave? I smell lawsuit.
You actually should never put anything cold directly on the skin--always through a layer of something like a towel. You also should only keep ice on about 15-20 minutes then off about 30 or so--and if it is causing pain, take the ice off. The object is to stop swelling %26 bleeding--not freeze the tissue. Sounds like the food gel pack probably gets too cold--that's why it says not for body use; but you could use it if you followed the above quidelines. (best by the way--frozen bag of peas). I doubt it contains toxic chemicals--you pack your food in it! Some people are not always the smartest cookie in the jar--at least she brought you something!
is it possibly the istant ice pack. but if it says dont apply to body then dont. use the other ice. 20 mins on 20 mins off. can you apply pressure to the foot if not it could be broken i would say go to teh ER,
