Scratched eye?

i recently have had a hard time closing my eyes to sleep. it feels like there's something in my eye, but i'm pretty sure there isn't. i was told it may be a slight scratch? im not really sure what else it would be. it dosent really hurt when i stand or sit, just when i lay down and try to sleep. what's up here?
thanks.
Answer:
You should speak to a doctor, as they have ways of treating such injuries if you do indeed have a scratch. A minor scratch or irritation may heal on its own, but can also get infected and cause further complications, perhaps even infection and blindness depending on the severity. I had a fairly significant scratch to the eye as a child and a few days with a strip powdered with a medication under an eyepatch healed it without issue.
If the discomfort is only when you lay down, perhaps you have an infection or growth of tissue near the eye that creates pressure when you go to lay down. I'm not sure, but I be a doctor could help you a lot more than us.
the best thing to do is go see a eye doctor cuz it might be something else u never know.
If this is an ongoing problem, you need to contact your optometrist immediately. A scratch on your cornea -- the clear covering of your eyeball -- can be irritating, but without medicated eyedrops or some small treatment, it can become much more than a scratch. It can irritate your eyelid, which can in turn swell and become very sore and puffy. The scratch itself may become a larger tear if you rub your eye or get sand or an eyelash in your eye just right. A tear or severe scratch of the cornea may in some cases require minor surgery. Please have this checked immediately. Your eyes are among your most precious possessions -- take care of them well.
