Severe pain in lower bicep?

Im a college pitcher and have had severe pain in my lower bicep muscle/tendon for a few months now. I have seen a doctor and he suggested tendinitis. I took the reccomended time off to rest and have done the reccomended rehab assignments and when i begin my throwing, it is right back to square one with the pain. I have researched biceps tendinitis and it gives me the impression that most of the pain is found in the shoulder when diagnosed. Therefore i have steered away from "Biceps Tendinitis". I am scheduled to see a specialist shortly and I'm afraid he will say that i have tendinitis but im sure that it is more than just tendinitis because of the pain I have even after taking time off. I would appreciate advise from anyone with experience with this injury. Thank you.
Answer:
It sounds more like a small tear in the muscle rather than anything to do with tendons. Tears can take quite a long time to heal and if you keep doing pitching it will take much longer to heal and possibly cause more damage. See if you can find a sports therapist. They are more likely to be able to steer you in the right direction to get it healed. Massage can also help because sometimes a small injury causes scar tissue. If you feel around the muscle you might find a small hard bump. That can be helped with massage especially someone who understands and specializes in sports injuries.
