Shin Splint?

I recently started walking about 2 miles again. Before I was bike riding off and on. I am recovering from achilles tendonitis in my right leg. So a litttle running about a day ago mixed with my walk. and nowMy left leg hurts.
a couple inches about the foot on the lower leg on the front side. Its a sharpish pain. I can walk but its starting to hurt.
What is it. Just sorness ...or shin splints?
Is it something rest can take care off or do i need splinting...or any other thing. Please helpthanks
Answer:
It does sound like shin splints, which usually happen when starting a new exercise, like running. The reason is the tiny muscle that are in front your leg are not used to the stress of running. Rest usually cures it. When starting running, it is best to not overdo it at first, and not do it every day until your muscles get used to the new exercise. After a while the shin splints will go away.
warm it - stretch it - take an asprin
shin splints hurt like fart hole. just try and be easy on it and if it starts to hurt stay off of it for a little while. ice/heat pack combos should work pretty well to help the pain ease up. goes away with time and more walking.
Due to your achilles tendonitis on your right leg, you tend to shift more your weight on the left side. The pain on your left leg may be a cause of your conpensation on the unaffected side. Rest both legs for a while. If there is no swelling on the left leg but the pain is still there try putting a hot compress for 20 minutes in the area. It will help with your pain and will increase the circulation of your blood. For the meantime if you have any assistive device at home, such as single/ quad cane, you can use it to decrease the weight you are giving to both of your legs.
